Certified Nurse-Midwife, founder of Texas Family Birth & Wellness, and the provider who will be with you from your first prenatal visit through your final postpartum appointment.
Kristen Parks, APRN-CNM, is the founder and lead midwife at Texas Family Birth & Wellness — the first CNM-owned freestanding birth center in Collin County, north of Hwy 380.
Her path to midwifery was shaped by years of nursing across some of medicine's most demanding specialties — surgery, orthopedics, emergency medicine, organ transplant, and oncology — before finding her deepest calling in women's health and birth.
After earning her Master of Science in Nursing in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University in 2020, Kristen worked at Craig Ranch OBGYN and Parkland Hospital, one of the largest public hospital systems in the country. She saw firsthand how the volume and pace of hospital-based obstetric care often left families without the connection, continuity, and compassion they deserved.
So she built something different. Texas Family Birth & Wellness exists because Kristen believes families in North Texas deserve a provider who truly knows them — not a rotating cast of faces, not 10-minute appointments, not a birth experience shaped by shift changes and staffing pressures.
2020
Frontier Nursing University
Frontier Nursing University is one of the nation's leading graduate nursing institutions, with a long history of training nurse-midwives for rural and underserved communities. Kristen's CNM training covered the full scope of midwifery practice, including normal and complicated pregnancies, birth, and women's health.
2014
University of South Alabama
Kristen's nursing foundation was built across high-acuity clinical settings including surgery, orthopedics, emergency medicine, organ transplant, and oncology — giving her a broad clinical depth that informs her midwifery practice.
Clinical
Hospital Experience
Before founding TFBW, Kristen practiced at Craig Ranch OBGYN in McKinney and at Parkland Hospital — one of the largest public hospitals in the country and a Level I Trauma Center. This clinical breadth gives her exceptional preparation for any situation that may arise.
Active
Hospital Privileges
Kristen holds active privileges at Methodist Celina Medical Center — meaning if a transfer is ever needed, she can continue your care in the hospital setting. This continuity of care sets her apart from providers who do not have hospital privileges.
Kristen's approach to midwifery is rooted in relationship. She believes the time taken to truly know a patient — her history, her fears, her birth preferences, her family — is not a luxury. It's the foundation of safe, compassionate care.
Her model is low-intervention and high-compassion — which means intervening when it's needed, explaining why, and never routinely intervening when it isn't. Informed consent isn't a formality at TFBW. It's how every decision is made.
She is committed to welcoming every family — regardless of race, background, identity, or personal preferences — and providing care that honors the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.
Kristen is a North Texas native who is deeply rooted in the community she serves. Outside of TFBW, she is a devoted wife and mother who enjoys spending time with her family, reading mystery novels, leading Bible study, and advocating for foster care families in the area.
She founded Texas Family Birth & Wellness not just as a business, but as an expression of her values — that families deserve care that sees them as whole people, and that North Texas deserves a birth center worthy of the community it serves.
